DR, Remembering a PFVCC Great
Five Time Champ Leaves a Permanent Mark on Family & This League
In Loving Memory of DR
There are moments in the PFVCC that go beyond standings, beyond weekly wins, and even beyond championships. This is one of those moments.
It’s with heavy hearts that we recognize the passing of one of our own, DR—Uncle Douglas. He wasn’t just a name on the leaderboard; he was a cornerstone of this league family and a true part of its history. From 1987 to 2023, he was a constant presence. Over that time, he built a remarkable career, racking up 5,559 wins with an overall .610 winning percentage—and five championship seasons placing him third all time in Penthouse finishes.
Year after year, he was there—In the hunt, and often right in the middle of the race when things tightened up. Whether you were trying to catch him or trying to hold him off, you always knew DR had something to say about it. And that’s what his legacy will remember him for. Not just the wins, and the love for the game and competition but the consistency. The fact that the board never really made sense without seeing those initials on it.
Going forward, the seasons will push onward, the standings will adjust, and new names will cycle in and out of the Penthouse—but DR’s footprint is already set in this league’s great history and much like those that have gone before him, he will never be forgotten.
KS, DR's eldest nephew, put it best when he said: “When I learned that I was going to be an uncle for the first time, I thought to myself, ‘what kind of uncle do I want to be?’ I knew from the beginning I wanted to be an ‘Uncle Douglas’ uncle.”
That line says it all. He made that kind of impact on everyone that knew him.
As we move forward we keep DR and those close to him in our thoughts and prayers. The tradition will continue, just as DR would have wanted, and his seat in PFVCC history and with this family remains exactly where it’s always been—secured.
Rest easy, DR
